Course Objectives: The training objective was to help the PhD students in analyzing, publishing their works in journals, and completing their studies effectively.
The training titles were “Application of Systematic Review (Meta-synthesis and Meta-Analysis): A refresher training for PhD scholars”. and “Academic writing and publications”. The main objective of the first half-day training was to equip PhD students with the theory and practice of systematic review as an alternative tool to produce manuscripts for publication. The training was attended by PATHWAYS project PhDs and senior researchers of PATHWAYS project (Co-trainers). It covered a wide range of issues related to how researchers better make use of the advantages inherent in both meta-synthesis and meta-analysis. The training was supported by Endnote software application to search for potential published articles meeting well-defined criteria. STATA software was used to conduct the meta-analysis. The session was backed up by a series of exercises and reflections. This training was run by Professor Nigatu Regassa and senior researcher researchers were co-trainers. The main objective of the second half-day training was to equip PhD students on each part of the manuscript and Produce more refined manuscripts through meaningful analysis. Detailed aspects of parts of manuscript components were presented with examples during the training. This training was run by Dr Aklilu Amsalu and other senior researcher researchers were co-trainers. These two training topics were selected based on the needs of the PhD students.
